COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Please read this entire section very carefully!
Come see how easy it is to learn the Biblical Greek alphabet and pronunciation. This is the starting line for learning Biblical Greek and will make the MSI Biblical Greek series easier to master. We will begin by learning to recognize and pronounce all 24 letters of the Koine Greek alphabet including the vowels and diphthongs (vowel couplets). Our journey will continue with an introduction to the basic rules for pronunciation which will be reinforced in later courses in the series. Our finish line for this course will be the pronunciation of a passage of Scripture which will provide the warm-up we need to continue to Biblical Greek 1. In that course we will begin to understand Greek grammar. Every Biblical Greek course at MSI is profoundly punctuated with helpful mnemonic (memory) devices and humor to help lifelong learners overcome the misperception that "It's all Greek to me"! Lifelong learners are expected to purchase the required textbooks before the course begins (see below).
This course has an in-person and online component to help lifelong learners master the Greek alphabet, vowels, diphthongs, and pronunciation. The online part consists of video lectures that are to be viewed before class each week. Rewatch the lecture videos as necessary to master the material for each week. The in-person component will provide lifelong learners the opportunity to ask questions and clarify any confusion. Repetition is the key to learning, so both components are vital to create a strong foundation that will enable you to succeed in our subsequent Greek courses.
