GOING LIVE ONLINE DEC 7

Biblical Hebrew 1 is a LIVE ONLINE Term 2 2023 FULL COURSE held virtually on Zoom on Six Thursdays: Dec 7, 14, 21, Jan 11, 18, 25 from 7:00–8:30pm EST. Once you register for this course, log into your MSI account, choose this course in 'My Courses', and you will find the Zoom link in the Course Contents along with all the course materials as they are shared.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Our first Biblical Hebrew grammar course makes the study of Biblical Hebrew come alive! Biblical Hebrew 1 introduces lifelong learners to the fundamental concepts of gender and number for all nouns and adjectives, the concept of definiteness, the patterns for vowel changes in nouns, and the function of nouns and adjectives. Our textbook, Learning Biblical Hebrew, emphasizes learning patterns and spelling changes instead of the rote memorization of word forms often required with other textbooks. We approach Biblical Hebrew not as a series of facts to memorize but as something alive, with a personality you can get to know and tendencies you can begin to predict. The accompanying workbook supplements the grammar taught in the textbook by providing self-graded exercises to reinforce the concepts covered in the textbook. Most important, the workbook includes a graded reader of the Joseph narrative and targeted vocabulary to assist learners to directly engage Biblical texts. As a result, we will not only be learning abstract paradigms but will put our knowledge into practice as we begin to understand the Biblical text on its own terms.
