Biblical Hebrew 4 is a LIVE ONLINE Term 4 2024 SIX-WEEK Course held virtually on Zoom on Six Thursdays: Oct 31, Nov 7, 14, 21, Dec 5, 12 from 7:00–9:00pm EST. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Continued Hebrew grammar completing the study of the Qal verb system covering chapters 15–17 in our textbook. Chapter 15 introduces Qal Volitional verbs, including the formation of the Imperative, the Jussive, and the Cohortative; how to distinguish them from the Imperfect verb form; and how they function within narrative sequences. Chapter 16 introduces the remaining two forms, the Qal Participle and the two Infinitives, and explains how they function as verbal adjectives or substantives (nouns). Chapter 17 expands on the introduction to the Qal Vav Consecutive we studied in Chapter 4 of Biblical Hebrew 1, and demonstrates how to recognize and understand Vav Consecutive Perfect and Imperfect verbs, including the Vav Consecutive forms of the verb היה (to be).

Marcy Kotting

Marcy has had a lifelong passion for Jewish worship and liturgy, and the Hebrew language that supports them, having been raised in Judaism. She has taught Hebrew for MSI since its inception, and has previously taught Hebrew for MJTI. She is also MSI's main instructor on the Jewish Holidays. Marcy has played an active role in several Messianic Jewish ministries including the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations, the Association of Messianic Believers, and Chevra USA. Moreover, she is a long-term member of the MSI Board. Marcy is the Liturgist for Beth Messiah Congregation, where she also trains Bar and Bat Mitzvah students. She is currently a graduate student at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary studying for an MA in Biblical Languages.
